The fruit fly guy implodes

Check it out here:

And this guy calls himself a scientist? Since when does "science" have no time nor interest to listen to opposing views? Or treat something that is merely a theory/hypothesis like it is carved in stone? His indignant and condescending tone to the host say it all..

They were talking about it on the following program, he was so perplexed that he more or less stomped out after the interview without so much as a thanks & goodbye.

Hilarious, is it not?

Skal!

Thou shalt not question the "Prophet Suzuki".

The whole scam is falling apart at the schemes.

Fruit Fly Guy makes classic liberal gaffe, leading to much talk about his admission that there are dissenting views on "climate change".

Day by day by day the doubts grow and grow and grow...

Maybe the sky really isn't falling after all...

It was an absolute shame to hear him on Oakley. He lost it when Oakley brought up the fact that Suzuki's view is not the consensus viewpoint and that other's disagree with him. He just seemed incredulous that anyone would question him and what he espouses - that he's right no matter what and his opinion is not to be questioned.
I couldn't believe that Suzuki has absolutely no time and is dismissive of those that don't agree wholeheartedly with him.
I also didn't like that fact that Suzuki downplayed the costs and implied that Canada would gladly drink the Kyoto Kool-Aid no matter what the cost is - jobs, economy, taxes, etc., to meet the targets of Kyoto.

Unfortunately I didn't get to listen to the following show's discussion about this, I'll see if I can catch it on the audio vault later..

Hardly surprising though, coming from a guy that equates the human race with a "maggots"..

I recall a debate he got into with some fellow named Rushton years ago over Rushtons theory that there was a correlation between intelligence and race. Rather than debate the guys assertions through scientific arguments, which he should have been quite capable of doing given he specialized in genetics, he just pounded on his self righteous pulpit about how Rushton should be fired from his job and his findings dismissed out of hand.

That was about the time I recognized Suzuki for what he really is, a grandstanding social activist with no interest at all in hearing points of view other than his own.

The Suzuki Foundation (a science-based Canadian environmental organization, working to protect the balance of nature and our quality of life) won't be getting any money from me.

It makes me sick hearing from a scientist with a closed mind say he believes that Canadians will "cough up whatever price" is demanded by Kyoto because HE has decided that they should. Why not put our money where it will make a difference to Canada by investing in Canadian made clean technology solutions?

Even if Global Warming doesn't turn out to be another "Silent Spring", Kyoto doesn't actually solve the problem -- it simply transfers cash out of our country! "Solving" this problem of emissions by weakening our economy (and therefore, our ability to solve the problem) isn't a solution at all -- it's economic suicide!

I'd hate to see where we'd be in 50 years if David Suzuki were PM. Thankfully, he's not the one calling the shots... and again, thankfully, he's outed himself as a zealot of this newly founded environmental religous order.

"No real science here please -- we're Canadian"

Sheesh!

I can understand your doubts about the credibility of David Suzuki. After all, he did not endorse any NDP or Liberal candidates during the last election. He lacks the true bona fide of the activist: he does not march in lockstep with the forces of tolerance.

What is needed is a fresh voice, one that can appeal to the masses using emotionally laden arguments; who can raise funds and disburse it, without the complications of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This fresh voice should be a tireless agent of political correctness, neither heteronormative nor tethered to facts.

Somewhere, there is a voice in the wilderness. We can only hope it comes soon, before the last snow falls in Canada.

Does anyone know if these audio vault files can be saved somehow? I heard that Adler replayed the clip about 15 minutes before the hour and I'd like to download it and catch it later..

DBA, get yourself a copy of Audacity and grab the stereo mix as it plays. You can even save it as an MP3, and listen to it in your rickshaw.

I am a AGW sceptic. At this point I'm not satisfied that GW isn't solargenic. I listened to the Oakley interview. Suzuki is very dismissive of anyone who is not completely onside but it is not accurate to say he imploded.

Fight hysteria with the truth, not hyperbole.

The "implosion" was more about his throwing a hissy fit and stomping out of the studio, I'm used to hearing him try and shout down or browbeat whoever disagrees with his point of view.

You might find my critique of some of Dr. Suzuki's point interesting on these radio broadcasts:
