Now THIS needed saying!

Chief Clarence Louie of the Osoyoos band lays it on the line..

Quote:

“My first rule for success is ‘Show up on time.' My No. 2 rule for success is follow Rule No. 1.”

“If your life sucks, it's because you suck.”

“Quit your sniffling.”

“Join the real world — go to school or get a job.”

“Get off of welfare. Get off your butt.”

Who is he talking to? Check it out here

Being from native ancestry myself I have often said the same thing, but because my pigment more matches the scandinavian side of the family rather than the native I am labelled racist or bigoted when I do.

This guy should be heading up the assembly of first nations if they really want to make a difference!

Whats love got to do with it...

An interesting twist on the gay marriage issue. Read Graham Hicks take on it here

Talijack

In a moment of sheer boredom the other day I wrote grinnin Jack bin Layton an email asking him to please explain exactly how one would go about "negotiating" with the taliban, as he is so keen to do so.
Perhaps they could let 1/2 the women attend schools? Lethal injection rather than a bullet in the head for showing their face in public?

C'mon Jack, I just want to know what your starting position would be..

btw - if anyone wants a full size version of this pic for a background/screensaver/t-shirt transfer - give me a shout!

Is it just me?

Or is there a pattern here? Almost daily now the religion of don't-piss-us-off-or-we'll-kill-you is frothing at the mouth about yet another slight against their religion. Were it not for the deadly implications of these statements being viewed as permission from Allah himself by a seemingly endless supply of wack-jobs to kill the nearest unbeliever to avenge said slight, it would be comical. "Don't call Isalm violent or we'll kill you" or "whosoever offends our Prophet Mohammed, peace be with him, should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim" would be sure fire knee-slappers in any given comedy club, but these moon-bats are serious.

Funny as well, but not at all surprising is that the MSM has not jumped on this hypocrisy.

Some more quotes:

We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose the jizya tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (being killed by) the sword. ... God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the Mujahideen.

Destroy their cross in the heart of Rome… and to hit the Vatican

Kill all Christians in Iraq if the Pope does not apologize to Mohammed in three days in front of the whole world

Don't forget - this is the "religion of peace"

As for the "moderates" we keep hearing about, any watered down "condemnation" I have heard from them regarding the violent islamic outbursts are always followed by a "BUT" (insert any statement putting original blame on the non-believers)

A Fatwa to follow?

So I am doing my news scan when I get into work this morning, and I see that someone has "provoked outrage in the muslim world" yet again. Seem's thats fairly easy to do these days, does it not?

But this time it's one of the west's religious "heavies", the pope himself that is the provocateur. Not that I take this to seriously, given my religious persuasions I think he is somewhat a kook myself, but a (more or less)harmless kook, if you will.

I would think that OBL and other like minded wackjobs would jump on this though, they want a final JIHAD with the west, what better way to bring this about than to put a FATWA on old pointy hat himself? Perhaps his comments weren't inflammatory enough to warrant this, although thats hard to imagine.

Why are we there?

Though I am NOT a big fan of the bloated and biased mothercorp we all know as the CBC, I do like to catch Rex when I can, more often than not agreeing with him. I happened upon this earlier today...

"If Mr. Layton wants Canadian troops out of Afghanistan, he should say just that.

He should say that it doesn't serve Canadian interests to be there, that the deaths of Canadian soldiers, therefore, serve no point and that the battlefield of Afghanistan, which will decide who rules in that country, Karzai or Taliban, democracy or rabid fundamentalism, has no meaning or significance for us Canadians. "

Worth a look and listen..

This gal is bang-on and if I may say so, has balls of steel. Undoubtedly and very unfortunately there are quite likely numerous fatwas calling for her death now.

We need more people like this.

R.I.P Steve-o

Been a LONG time since I've visited here, but this is worth an entry..

It was with shock and sadness that I read about his untimely demise yesterday when I logged on the web. I was surprised as well, didn't think I would be, given the nature of his work and how many chances he took, but I was surprised nonetheless. As the day progressed I was again surprised at the sadness I felt, like I had just lost a good friend, and this feeling was a tad confusing. This was a guy I have never met or talked to, a television personality just like any other, right? But he was not like any other, for me watching him on tv was like watching someone talking directly to you, not an audience, and his unbridled enthusiasm was infectious.

I think this helps explain the unexpected sense of loss I felt throughout the day, which took me by surprise. My young daughter is a big fan of any show about wildlife, and her eyes welled with tears when I told my kids the news, the instant sadness was also very evident in the older kids eyes, although they did their best to hide it.

Godspeed and rest in peace, Steve, you'll be missed..
